SilverFire Stainless Steel Dragon Pot The 6.5 liter (1.7 gallon) Dragon Pot is a must have rocket stove option. suitable if absolutely nothing else is available.SilverFire Pot Stainless Steel Dragon for Rocket Wood Burning Stove. wild claims by manufacturers on the burn efficiency basically over stating lack of smoke and soot plus claims of secondary burn etcĪll in all once purchased, its a white elephant and wont be used because of the above. constant feeding of wood into chamber makes it onerous work. nothing you cant make out of stones or bricks. device itself gets filthy, difficult to clean.very smelly and taintd food. ruins any pan that comes into contact with it.ruined nice skillet, took 2 hrs to clean. bought it to compliment an outdoor cook system in the back yardĬONS- extremely sooty. Had this a week now, and tried it with different woods and amounts of same. This is a great stove if your camping with the car, or to complement the BBQ in the back garden - more interesting than gas. Worked so well that in the five days we were away we didn't use the indoor gas hob for anything other than making coffee (and only then because the coffee pot was too small for the outdoor stove). Also tried a thin steel frying pan which tended to get too hot directly above the flame. Very hot - I had a cast iron pot, cast iron griddle - both ideal. Does create a bit of soot on the bottom of pans - mostly if you don't let the flames build up before using. 5 Good, Hot, Easy, Not for backpacking.īought this for a five day sea fishing trip in October - wanted to be able to cook outdoors as much as possible (albeit in the garden of a small seafront cottage).Check out the reviews of the silver fire stove on youtube you will be impressed. An excellent product perfect for emergency use or camping maybe a little heavy to carry a long way. Don't choke the fire box with fuel and it will burn very clean when up to temp. Once you have got used to wich size fuel to use and it's placement this stove burns smoke less and hot.It will soot up the bottom of pots but even the most clean burn stove will ,just cover the bottom of pans with liquid soap to make them easy to clean. 5 Excellent version of a Silver Fire survivor stove.Had one of these to use when a group of us go out off roading with out 4x4s we have been using wood pelets which burn clean and do not leave a residue on our stainless steel pansĬan't recommend this enough but test first with fuel you are going to use to get cleanest burn I also bought a travel bag for the stove elsewhere as I couldn’t see one in this store It’s more of a base-camp stove or just to enjoy cooking outdoors at home We’ve cooked a few meals on this stove and very pleased The stove has such good ventilation that it burns wood fiercely wry no effort So easy to light… I placed a couple of pieces of cotton wool balls wiped on Vaseline onto a piece of wooden kindling and lit it with a fire steel The stove is beautifully made, quite heavy but engineered very well This was purchased after seeing one in use on a motorbike camping group… guy had one in a sidecar for transport Handles good and zero heat transference, very stable and perfect for cast fry pan or Zebra billy. I got a bag (elsewhere as not stocked by HH) and would suggest doing so to ease portage and stop soot transferring. Very pleased with this as an extension to my stove collection. Definately not for backpacking! Well engineered and weighty.
